Dental Exams and CheckUps are important to keep your teeth and gums healthy, prevent inflammation, infection, decay, and tooth loss. A daily oral hygiene is also important to eliminate bacteria in the mouth. Bacteria builds to form plaque. The plaque hardens and will lead to long-term ailments such as periodontal disease and also gingivitis, a mild form of gum disease.

We can evaluate your dental care and provide suggestions for future care in order to keep your teeth as healthy as possible, and protect you from cavities and gum disease. If we can detect a problem early, it’s easier to fix. We invite you to our office and visit our team.
We recommend you have a dental exam every six months. In some cases, more often, if you smoke, have frequent cavities or genetic susceptibility to gum disease, or root decay.
What will happen in the dental exam?
A typical dental exam involves thoroughly cleaning your teeth, removing any surface stains or deposits, called tartar, and also removing plaque. We check for signs of gum disease and tooth decay. You will have an x-ray on some of your visits to provide a detailed summary of your oral health and to help us identify any additional issues.
We will also talk to you about your daily oral hygiene, such as how often you brush and floss, along with what kind of toothpaste you use, and if it has fluoride in it. If needed, we will demonstrate proper dental care, and suggestions on how to improve your daily routine to promote optimal oral health.
