Bonding

Bonding To Repair Your Teeth

Bonding is an alternative to veneers. You can repair discolored, crooked or slightly chipped teeth.  The process involved a white filling placed onto the tooth to improve its appearance. The filling will bond with your teeth.  A variety of shades is available to match the various shades of teeth.  Bonding materials are called composite resins and they add strength and translucency to the tooth. The composite material bonds with the rest of the tooth, and gives a natural look, as it helps with the cosmetic look of the tooth.

Tooth bonding can also be used for tooth fillings instead of amalgam fillings. Many people prefer the white color of bonded fillings because it’s less noticeable than the silver amalgam fillings.

Bonding is less expensive than many of the other cosmetic treatments. This process can usually be completed in one visit to our Gentle Dental office. With a single office visit, you can dramatically improve the appearance of your tooth and smile. The plastic resin used in bonding is not as strong as tooth enamel, and usually lasts 3-5 years before needing repair.

You may want to consider dental bonding:

  • to slightly change the shape of a tooth
  • to repair decayed teeth
  • To close spaces between teeth
  • to repair cracked or chipped teeth
  • to replace an amalgam filling
  • to improve the appearance of discolored teeth
  • to provide part of the tooth’s root that has been exposed due to receding gums
